Dans Digital’s work CEEC Won the nomination Prize in CICLOPE 2018

On Nov. 9, 2018, each award was announced at the award ceremony of CICLOPE Festival. CEEC by Dans Digital achieved a good result again by becoming the nominee in the Live Experience at CICLOPE Festival 2018, and it’s also the only Chinese work which is nominated in this category. And this is already the third award CEEC won in international competitions after its winning the crystal award in Innovation category at AD Stars 2018 and became a finalist in the best Live Event Installations & Projections at Animation Effects Awards Festival 2018.

CICLOPE Festival is an important platform for professors in digital visual effect field to share their creative ideas and technology achievements in Europe and America. Unlike other advertising festivals, CICLOPE Festival focuses on the art of execution, rather than the ideas. The festival believes a good execution is as important as the idea, and extremely determinant for the consumer’s experience. Recently, CICLOPE’s influence expended gradually, and in order to build bridges among the industry, the festival also holds three regional events: CICLOPE Latino in Mexico, CICLOPE Africa in South Africa and CICLOPE Asia in Japan. The annual CICLOPE Festival has become the top platform to exchange creative ideas in the world. Each year, numerous international visual effects companies and film production companies were attracted to submit their entries in CICLOPE festival, and it’s also the “Arena” for entries of famous brands to compete with each other.

CICLOPE 2018 was held in Kino International Theater in Berlin. In 2013, CICLOPE Festival moved to Berlin (Germany), one of the most exciting cities in the world. The theater is located on Karl-Marx-Allee in former East Berlin and hosted premieres until the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, it is very typical for its time and context of the prestige cinema in the cold war. During the award ceremony of CICLOPE 2018, all finalists will be screened at Kino International Theater on November 8 & 9.

As an important event, CICLOPE has become a communication platform for directors, creatives, artists, producers, digital creatives and clients to share knowledge, be inspired and celebrate the best work. CICLOPE Festival gathers world top-notch professionals to share their ideas, to make speeches, and to celebrate the best work and to network with colleagues and clients. This year, masters of each field gathered here and addressed significant speeches. Including Amanda Johnstone-Batt, CG Supervisor of Framestore, which won the Oscar Statuette with the work Avatar; Kirk Baxter, who has earned three Academy Award nominations and two wins for Best Editing for The Social Network and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo; and Rebecca Skinner, one of the founders and Managing Directors of Superprime Films, who has worked with many artists such as Madonna, Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Taylor Swift.

The high-level jury panel of CICLOPE 2018 consists of 121 senior creative directors, film directors, CTOs and artists, which showed the authoritative of CICLOPE as a world-famous advertising award. The judging process of 2018 was carried out in two rounds, 121 senior judges preview each entry and decide upon final film selection, the gold, silver and bronze awards were selected and announced on the award ceremony. On the list of the juries, we can see Lisa Tauscher, Managing Director, and Executive Producer at Partizan, which has won numerous Cannes Lions and was elected one of the world’s foremost production companies; Sergio Lopes, who spent his career working at leading creative agencies (Leo Burnett, Anomaly, JWT and McCann), and won 36 Cannes Lions for every agency he has worked with; as well as Lance Acord, who became BAFTA nomination for Best Cinematography, and his Super Bowl spot for Volkswagen, The Force, became the undisputed highlight of the year’s Super Bowl broadcast and went viral even before kickoff.

This year, the categories of CICLOPE festival is divided into 4 main categories and covers 37 sub-categories. Special Selection - Live Experience is a newly-added category this year, and this category is the best explanation for the belief of CICLOPE: “Whether it’s a TV commercial, a mobile app or an interactive installation, we truly believe a good execution is as important as the idea, and extremely determinant for the consumer’s experience.” Other award-winning works together with Dans Digital include Project Revoice presented by ALS Association, which introduces a breakthrough in speech technology for people living with ALS (Motor Neuron Disease), enabling those who lose the ability to talk, to continue speaking in their own authentic and personal voice; Design of Adidas together with the cooperation of the Tokyo Metropolitan police department, which delivered a optimal routing for the whole 42,195 kilometers to city runners, without having to stop for a red light even once; as well as the the world’s first 4D lunar gravity virtual reality (VR) experience - A Moon for all Mankind, which is designed through the joint effort of Samsung and NASA.

The film CEEC was made for the immersive audiovisual elevators of China International Consumer Electronics Exchange/Exhibition Center (CEEC). The work is a comprehensive innovation work which combines creative idea, visual effects technologies, specially-built devices, as well as specially-purposed space, it set up a new example for the world’s visual effects technology to look to. The Film stimulated the scene that human went back to CEEC Aircraft Carrier after exploring the virgin land on the outer planet in the Age of Space Exploration. From creative ideas, conceptual design to the completion of the elevators, it took 12 months for Dans Digital to finish the work.

CEEC’s winning the Nominee in the Live Experience in 2018 is the 8th prize Dans Digital achieved in CICPE. All the 5 entries were awarded in CICLOPE 2014 at the first time Dans Digital submit its entries in the competition. T4·Logo won The Best VFX at CICLOPE International Festival of Craft 2014, and our work T4·Rise, Gemdale Lake City·Art, Xian International Center and NCC International Plaza were all awarded. And Dans Digital became Best Digital Company in ASIA PACIFIC of CICLOPE International Festival of Craft 2014 due to the good achievements. In 2016, Be One with the Universe won Bronze Award in the Editing at CICLOPE International Festival of Craft 2016, for its special production of the fixed shoots throughout the whole film, as well as the special belief of the film; And the work Dreams-on·Logo became Nominee in the Title Sequence of Brand Content at CICLOPE International Festival of Craft 2017, the logo of the chain store with the shape of a conch, and we made it into a 3D jewelry through the expression of high-tech feeling, which revealed the feelings of science & technology, elegance, and uniqueness of the brand.

The creative experience work displayed in the audio-visual elevators, CEEC, can be awarded this time, is just because the work combined the utility tool and brand experience together and breaks the old design pattern, it is a breakthrough in traditional brand communication. It inspired a new creative thinking for brand experience and set up a new model for the exhibition industry to attract visitors.
